Step into the waves and reconnect with yourself through the calming, confidence-building power of the sea. This 4-week guided programme is designed to help you safely experience open water swimming while supporting your mental wellbeing, resilience, and sense of connection. Blending cold water immersion, mindful breathing, and gentle movement, this is more than swimming — it’s a guided journey into confidence and calm. Led by a STA Level 2 Open Water Safety & Outdoor Swim Coach and Registered Nurse, your experience is supported by professional expertise, care, and a strong focus on safety. 🌿 What You’ll Experience Over 4 weeks, you’ll build your confidence in a supportive, small-group environment while learning practical skills you can carry forward. You’ll explore: Cold water safety & acclimatisation Mindful breathing & relaxation techniques Sea confidence skills (floating, gentle swimming) Wave awareness & understanding tides Tools to reduce stress and support mental wellbeing Each session is designed to meet you where you are — whether you’re completely new to open water or looking to deepen your experience. 🌊 Programme Structure Week 1 – Introduction & Grounding On land: Welcome and course overview Health & safety briefing Introduction to cold water safety Breathing techniques for calm (box breathing) In water: Gentle entry into the sea Floating practice 3–5 minute immersion Mindful awareness of sensations After: Warm-up and reflection Week 2 – Breathing with Movement On land: Review and reflection Mindful breathing while moving Stress release visualisation In water: Gradual entry Short swims with mindful breathing Floating and recovery After: Warm drink & mood journaling Week 3 – Building Confidence On land: Wave awareness & tide understanding Mental resilience tools In water: Longer swim (conditions permitting) Buddy awareness Confidence in open water After: Gratitude practice & warming stretches Week 4 – Celebration Swim On land: Recap and reflection Personal intention setting In water: Group swim experience Choice of float or swim Guided mindful swim After: Reflection circle Guidance for continuing your journey safely 🌿 The Sauna Experience To deepen the benefits of cold water immersion, selected sessions may include integration with Rewild Sauna at Bracklesham Bay.
